I, MJ

Short stories and scripts, essays and reviews, memoirs and blogs, I write everything under the sun—and teach some of it too.

I cover culture, trends, books, health, food, and psychology for higher ed. I’m assistant editor of a large alumni magazine and associate fiction editor of a small literary magazine.

I grew up on Fictionpress with Sarah J. Maas and Hannah Reynolds, where I wrote the novel Firebird as J.C. Jaquez.

I studied with Stephen Millhauser at Skidmore College and Rick Bass, Elizabeth Hand, Theodora Goss, and James Patrick Kelly in Stonecoast’s MFA in Creative Writing program.

I live just outside Boston with a small white cat with black spots. We love long, existential conversations.
